The Houtbay Trail Challenge doubled as South African Trail Championships and Inov-8 equipped athletes brought home exceptional results once again. Runners encountered sun, rain, hail and sleet at various parts of the 68km route, which had over 4500m of vertical ascent. Making this an extreme test of trail runner and equipment.
In the ladies’ race Nicolette Griffioen equipped with the equally impressive: Race Ultra 270 and Race Ultra Vest, continued her phenomenal form, winning and placing an amazing 7th overall amongst SA’s top men. Only sixteen minutes and one place behind her in the overall field, came Chantel Nienaber who chose the new X-Talon 225 for her adventure on Table Mountain. Chantel proving that age is irrelevant if you have her passion, was the first veteran lady home.
In the men’s race, Pedro Calderon added another fantastic result to his growing CV by finishing 2nd behind local star, AJ Calitz. Pedro also chose the Race Ultra 270 for its lightweight responsiveness and unsurpassed grip and carried his hydration, fuel and compulsory equipment in his Race Ultra Vest.
